Gameplay

While playin' dota there are many things you must concentrate on,
-First thing is :
The map: there must be 5 enemy marks on the map -if it is 5v5- if one of them is absent then there is a great chance that you are about to be ganged, so try to be careful and stay near your tower..
-The 2nd thing is :
watch the other lanes if the lane next to you needs to be ganged.
-The 3rd thing :
Plan from the start what items will you get according to your hero and the enemy hero needs.

Items

In Dota, Items can be divided into many categories...

Movement speed items:
Items which help in increasing your movement speed (ms) such as boots of Travel, Power treads, yasha, Eul's scepter of divinty, these items gives permanent movement speed while other items like lothar's Edge and phase boots gives bonus movement speed and a special ability.

Damage items:
These items basically bought to strength and agility heroes to increase their damage and lifesteal -if present- and so making them even harder to be killed.
Example of these items are: Divine Rapie, Buriza-do Kayanon, Monkey King Bar, Radiance, Battle Fury,... etc.

Agility items:it is called so because besides its ability -whatever was- it helps in increasing your agility giving' you more powerful hero, It includes Sange & Yasha, Manta Style, The Butterfly,...

Intelligence items:Besides its ability, It increases your mana pool, It includes Guinsoo, Aghnam, Shiva's guard, Orchid, Dagon, Blood stone,....

*There are many much items can be used at any type of hero you have, When buying the item consider its use for you and its efficiency against your enemy too.

The type of the Hero

The first thing you need to know when playing' Dota is what hero type you have, Like most Warcraft III based maps, there are 3 types of heroes :

*Strength hero:

These heroes have Strength as their primary attribute, So each point increase in their Strength will increase their Damage, Hit points and Hit point regeneration.

That type of heroes is useful for a team tank hero, and you should buy him a strength items to make him more powerful.

*Agility hero:

These heroes have Agility as their primary attribute, So each point increase in their Agility will increase their Damage, Armor, Attack speed.

That type of heroes is a late game hero; not very powerful at the beginning of the game but can own in the late game period.

*Intelligence hero:

Most of that type are ''Spellcaster'' heroes, Each point increase in their Intelligence will increase their Damage, Mana pool, Mana regeneration.

These heroes depend very much on their spells in the fight, usually need very large mana pool to easily cast multiple spells, and are a great Assist hero type but easily killed due to their relatively low Hit points.
